SURGERY RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Formal Education & Conference
- Weekly Morbidity and Mortality Conference held on Wednesday mornings followed by a didactic lecture series.
- Grand Rounds presented by guest speakers are given throughout the year.
- Weekly reading assigned and incorporated with Wednesday didactic schedule. This is done using SCORE curriculum and weekly quizzes are assigned.
- Monthly Anatomy education done during autopsy in pathology lab with surgical Attending and Pathologist. Two residents attending monthly at this time with plans to expand to bi-monthly curriculum and addition of an incorporated fresh tissue lab. (PGY I-II rotation).
- Journal club – Done throughout the year.
- Mock oral boards are done twice yearly for the PGY4 and PGY5 classes.
- We have a newly renovated Simulation lab with opportunities to improve basic and laparoscopic surgery skills.
