FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Howdy! My name is Nader Abedini. I completed my undergraduate and medical education through the integrated medical program at the University of Pécs Medical School in Hungary, Central Europe. My journey to residency has taken an unconventional path, one that taught me resilience, deepened my appreciation for every opportunity to serve, and affirmed my belief that medicine is more than a profession. It is a calling rooted in compassion, humility, and lifelong learning. After residency, I hope to practice full spectrum Family Medicine with a focus on Rural and Wilderness Medicine while continuing to expand my procedural skills. My aspiration is to weave together medicine, aviation, and rural service, bringing compassionate care wherever the journey leads and wherever the need is greatest. Outside of medicine, I enjoy flying as a pilot, hiking, fitness, gardening, cooking, and reading history. I am honored to join the San Joaquin General Hospital Family Medicine Residency and look forward to walking alongside my patients, learning from my mentors and colleagues, and serving the Central Valley with gratitude.
Growing up in a family of physicians in the vibrant city of Karachi, Pakistan, I was inspired to pursue medicine from a very young age. That dream eventually led me halfway across the world, where I am grateful to now be training in Family Medicine at San Joaquin General Hospital. I earned my medical degree from Jinnah Medical & Dental College and am passionate about providing compassionate, patient-centered care. I especially enjoy outpatient medicine, where I can build meaningful, long-term relationships with my patients, along with preventive care and aesthetics. Outside the hospital, you’ll usually find me exploring new places, taking long drives, traveling, cooking to good music, and spending quality time with the people I love.
I completed my undergraduate education and medical school from a beautiful coastal city called Vizag, India from GVP Medical College. Looking ahead after residency, my goal is to practice broad-spectrum Family Medicine with a comprehensive, patient- centered approach to caring for patients and their families. Interests & Passions are clinical focus of full-spectrum primary care and whole-family wellness, sleep medicine, sports medicine, academia. In addition, I enjoy exploring advances in artificial intelligence in healthcare.
Outside of Medicine, I enjoy my pets, listening to music, researching online, reading books, traveling, spending time with family and friends, watching TV shows, and finding a good matcha.
Nyankoon Dean, MD earned his undergraduate degree from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California before attending Ross University School of Medicine, where he completed his medical education with training based in Barbados and the United States. Dr. Dean has a strong interest in Sports Medicine and plans to pursue a Sports Medicine fellowship after residency. He is passionate about helping patients lead healthier and active lives through preventive care, patient education, and evidence-based medicine.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Dean enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures. He has visited Liberia, Dubai, Turkey, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Canada, Grenada, Barbados, Mexico, and Belgium (Brussels). He also enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking, running, rollerblading, and visiting national parks. On his free time, Dr. Dean enjoys playing both indoor and outdoor soccer, participating in escape rooms, sip-and-paint events, bowling, and game nights with friends. He is also an avid road-trip enthusiast and completed a cross-country drive from Miami Beach, Florida, to Stockton, California, passing through eight states—an experience that combined his love of travel, adventure, and exploring the United States.
Hello! I’m Amber Faquih. I was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, where I earned my medical degree from Dow Medical College. Before joining San Joaquin General Hospital, I worked as a research assistant at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I chose San Joaquin General Hospital for its training and supportive learning environment.
My career interests include palliative care and geriatrics. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling (especially road trips), creating healthy recipes, listening to music, playing with my cats, and learning about different cultures.
Hello! My name is Nafisah Ijaz. I was born and raised in Northern California and earned a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from University of California, Davis. I then earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from A.T. Still University in Arizona. I was drawn to San Joaquin General Hospital because of the opportunity to care for the diverse communities that shaped me and inspired my passion for family medicine. After residency, I plan to practice outpatient medicine with a focus on women’s health and holistic, patient-centered care. I also have an interest in office-based procedures and look forward to exploring that area further during my training. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, watching movies, spending time with family and friends, and playing board games. I’m excited to join SJGH and serve the San Joaquin community!
Hello! My name is Abhinav Reddy Pathe. I was born and raised in Hyderabad, India, and went to medical school in the Philippines at Davao Medical School Foundation. I chose Family Medicine because it allows me to care for patients throughout their lives, build meaningful relationships, and be a trusted part of their healthcare journey.
My clinical interests include primary care, hospital medicine, geriatrics, and palliative care. Outside of medicine, I enjoy singing, going on hikes, trying new food, and spending time with family and friends. I am excited to be a part of the San Joaquin General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program and look forward to serving the Stockton community.
Hi, my name is Yasmine Siagian (see-ah-ghee-ahn). I attended college at Andrews University where I majored in Behavioral Neuroscience, then went to medical school in Loma Linda University in Southern California. I enjoy, relaxing in nature with family and friends, kayaking, going on walks, knitting, and shopping! I love Family Medicine because of the continuity of care you get for all your patients. I am specifically interested in Women’s Health and Addiction Medicine, but I love Family Medicine for the variety of conditions you get to see daily. I am so happy that I am doing my residency in a community hospital, and I’m excited to integrate into the community while I learn and grow as a doctor.
Hello! My name is Yrenys Bruno. I graduated from Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. My decision to pursue medicine was inspired by my grandmother, whose dedication to our family and community taught me the value of compassion, service, and caring for others. I chose San Joaquin General Hospital because of its strong, hands-on training and the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population. After residency, I am still exploring my career path, with interests in Obstetrics/Women’s Health and Obesity Medicine.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring new places, visiting museums and art exhibits, dancing and exercising.
Dr. Sawsan Edriss is originally from Detroit, Michigan, and is new to the West Coast. She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. After residency, she hopes to practice comprehensive family medicine with a strong focus on preventive care, patient education, and office-based procedures, while remaining involved in teaching and mentorship. In her spare time, she enjoys reading fiction, creative writing, exploring new places, and spending time with family.
Hi! I’m Leanza Buela Fronda. My undergraduate education was at University of Santo Tomas, and my medical education was at University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, both of which are in the Philippines. I want to focus on primary care after residency. On my free time, I like going to the gym, playing pickleball and volleyball, cooking/baking, hiking and singing.
Hi! My name is Ashley Lin. I did my undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis. I developed my passion for serving underserved communities while in medical school at Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans. I have been privileged to return to my Northern California roots to continue to serve the underserved and the greater San Joaquin general community. In my free time, I like to ski and make regular trips during ski season to Tahoe.
I earned my medical degree in India before moving to the United States to pursue my dream of training in Family Medicine. I chose Family Medicine because it allows me to care for patients of all ages and be part of their lives through different seasons — from preventive care and wellness to moments when they need support the most. I am excited to continue growing as a family physician with interests in comprehensive primary care, office-based procedures, and wound care, while always looking for opportunities to expand the care I can offer my patients.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our daughter, working on home improvement projects, traveling, and making lasting memories with family and friends.
Hello, my name is Melinda Wiggins. I completed my undergraduate education at Sonoma State University in California before earning a master's degree in Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine from AIMC Berkeley. I owned and operated an acupuncture practice in Berkeley over 10 years before pursuing my Doctor of Medicine degree at St. George's University. I am enjoying my Family Medicine residency at San Joaquin General Hospital, where I could care for a diverse, multicultural, and underserved patient population while training in a wide variety of clinical settings. I chose Family Medicine because of its broad scope and the opportunity to care for patients throughout every stage of life, with interests in obstetrics, pediatrics, sports medicine, and procedures.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy swimming, singing, playing the guitar, listening to live music, and spending time with my 6-month-old.
Hi there! My name is Javier Bustamante, I'm originally from Tijuana, Mexico. I attended Universidad Xochicalco Campus Tijuana. I chose family medicine so I can establish a long term and personalized care with my patients and specially in the underserved communities. I believe that San Joaquin General Hospital and its community will help me gain experience and achieve this goal.
On my free time I enjoy baseball, San Diego Padres fan, I also enjoy attending concerts and music festivals, especially Coachella. Me and fiancé love to try new restaurants and take our dog Sebas for walks.
Hi, I’m Constanza! I was born in Lima, Peru, and attended medical school at Universidad de San Martin de Porres. I completed a Geriatrics residency in 2022 and now aim to pursue Family Medicine to provide comprehensive care for my elderly patients. My medical interests include palliative care and geriatrics.
On my free time, I enjoy reading, dancing, and doing yoga.
Hello everyone!! My name is Carmen Guerra Sosa, and I am thrilled to have joined a dynamic group of future leaders in health care! I was born and raised in Cuba. I attended the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Médicas de Santiago de Cuba. My passion for Family Medicine was solidified while abroad and learning the challenges of providing quality healthcare in diverse settings and communities in Venezuela. I received a Physician Assistant universal license by the Physician Assistant Board of Arizona that allowed me to continue my medical journey here in the United States, where I had the opportunity to connect with the patients and provide a place where they can be known and appreciated by an entire staff of community members who want the best for them. I am passionate about preventive healthcare and women’s health. I enjoy being outdoors with my family and friends, cooking, dancing, and learning about different cultures.
Hello! My name is Priyam Khemani. My undergraduate education was at Saint Mary’s College of California, and I attended medical school at Touro University California. I found my way to family medicine right here at San Joaquin General, where I was able to see firsthand the great impacts and changes that primary care physicians can provide to improve their patient’s lives. My interest is in primary care, holistic medicine, inpatient medicine, and procedures/Sports Medicine, and am still figuring out my perfect balance for after residency. On my free time, I enjoy knitting, baking, hiking, golfing, singing, and playing the piano.
Hello there! My name is Brian Lam and I’m from the LBC! I went to USC for undergrad and Touro CA for medical school. After residency I hope to be working with gender affirming care, HIV/STI care, End of life care, and shaping US healthcare policy away from a capitalistic business model. The only issue is in my spare time you’ll find me being horizontal, playing video games like Celeste, or watching a good movie. I also enjoy walking while listening to a good audiobook or music, swimming, sketching, or trying new desserts/cuisines.

Hello everyone, l attended San José State University for my undergraduate studies and continued my medical journey at St. George’s University School of Medicine. I am excited to be part of the San Joaquin General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. I look forward to expanding my skills and knowledge in areas such as hospital medicine, outpatient care, acute care, lifestyle medicine, and community medicine.
My future aspirations include becoming a well‑rounded family physician who provides comprehensive, compassionate care to underserved communities, and developing my leadership skills to help guide teams and contribute meaningfully to community health initiatives.

Hi everyone, I’m Enrique, originally from Monterrey, NL, Mexico. I attended medical school at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. During my clinics in Mexico, I was actively involved in developing a project aimed at supporting underserved patients in my community. After completing my residency, I plan to launch a long-term project that will have a positive impact on my community.
Outside of work, I love spending time with friends, watching sports, listening to music, attending comedy shows, and making new connections.
